http://cgi.ebay.com/Lansing-LU-1011-Field-Coil-285-287-Vintage-Speaker-IPC_W0QQitemZ320316438374QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVintag e_Electronics_R2?hash=item320316438374&_trksid=p32 86.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4|65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A13 18

Lansing 285/287 field coil high frequency driver. I have a pair of these, I will list the second one if I feel I received a decent price on this one. The driver may not have perfect cosmetics on the outside but is in excellent condition on the inside as can be seen in the pictures. Also it is in perfect operating condition. Apparently this is a transition item as follows. It has a phasing plug with concentric rings as in a 287 but has the old 284 / 285 thread on throat. Obviously it is late production as seen by the Altec on rear cap. The cap is original. As some of you know, the 287 has 3 stud mounting just like the 288 that followed it. It's not a 285 because the 285 had a radial slot phase plug. Altec probably was using up the older 285 magnet structures when supplying these to IPC. This would explain the 287 phasing plug along with the earlier 285 thread on throat. This driver has no rust or corrosion. Phasing plug and voice coil gap like new. If you have the correct throat or adaptor, this driver is ready to enjoy. If you already have one here is your chance to have a pair. Or if this is your first one, please remember that I will be listing the second one in an upcoming auction.

s auction is for a pair of ALTEC OEM-300/604-8G 15” alnico 2 way/duplex speakers from UREI 813 cabinets. Both the tweeters and the woofers were tested with the original crossovers (see my other auctions) and sound very good (NO coil rubbing, scratchy sound....). These were selected to UREI specifications for better linear response ect. This early series (serial # 198 and 205 from 388 and 397 cabinets) was only produced from 1977 to 79. I beleive these date from 78 and are from the Morin Heights studio. The cones, spiders and surrounds are in excellent cosmetic condition. The magnets have a few scuffs and some tape and markings. The connectors work fine. Ohms for speaker #1 is LF 7.7 ohms, HF 7.6 ohms for speaker #2 LF 7.8 ohms, HF 7.5 ohms. Check out my other auctions for a NOS recone kit and UREI 838 crossovers.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Altec-Lansing-1504-A-multicell-horn-Voice-of-theater_W0QQitemZ180312452401QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVi ntage_Electronics_R2?hash=item180312452401&_trksid =p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4|65%3A10|39%3A1|240% 3A1307

You are bidding on perhaps one of the remaining Kings of the Altec Lansing heritage, a pair of Altec 1504-A, 4 driver multi-cell set. These circa 1950 horns would have graced only the largest and most grand movie houses like the FOX. They represent an age of Lansing history where price was no object. A long kept secret of underground audiophiles is that the 4 driver horns sound even better than the 2 driver 1505, partly due to the increased throat opening of each individual cell. These 4-driver horns were atop the Altec A1-X system, usually having 6 woofers below on each side. These horns are ultra rare and some individual parts are even harder to find. Here they are, two complete, ready to plug and play, tar filled 1504-As. Possibly the last available, anywhere! This pair will appear to be factory new from your listening chair. These were part of my personal collection which I now must sell.

The list:
2 - 1504-A tar filled horns
2 - bronze #30296 quadruple throat adapters (these are rare +).
4 - bronze double throats # 30170
8 - matched Altec 288-c, 24 ohm drivers
Enclosed is original mount gear with new boards and all new screw hardware.

The HORNS:
It is amazing that these horns are still around to be admired. They were not dropped off the top of the A-1 cabinets like so many. They have minor wrinkles but are far from road dogs. I have seen cleaner 1505 horns but I am very sure you are going to be pleased. These horns measure 37" deep with drivers 38" wide on 40" x 28.5" tall boards on mounts. They have less spread and are more forward firing than a 1503.

WEIGHT:
• The horns weigh 170 lbs apiece but can be moved into place by two people. The assembled bronze throat assembly weighs 25 lbs .
• The 4 drivers weighs 80 lbs. When all assembled in place with mount board they might weigh close to 300 lbs EACH ! Imagine guests surprise as you exhibit your beefy mid-range assemblies.

The THROATS:
All bronze throat assemblies are a Dada art statement by themselves. I have collected for years to acquire an all bronze set. Some are even painted inside like they have never been used, at least since originally being taken out of a theater. The quadruple, ultra rare #30296 throats are in excellent shape. I have re-tapped all the fine thread bolt holes and there are no non-working bolt holes. Only shiny happy holes.

The 8 DRIVERS:
I have collected these drivers over the last twenty years and have used most of them in my previous Altec systems. One driver is missing label, one has some paint on the back, cover has ding and cover could stand replacing. One diaphram has small dent not effecting sound. Minor paint scrapes but nothing to retard sound.

For this auction, I have had them graded and inspected by a local theater technician. He states they are a matched set. They all read between 11.4 and 12.5 on my ohm meter which is what the 24 ohm read. When running 4 drivers, they should be hooked up in series parallel. When this is done the resulting reading is @12.6 ohms. This means you will be running a 16 ohm load.

Two of the drivers have rope gaskets and the rest are rubber. The one that has dented/painted dust cap does not have an inner screen, No Big Deal. Here are the ohm readings:
#1-12.7
#2-12.3
#3-11.3
#4-11.9
#5-11.8
#6-12.4
#7-12.5
#8-11.6

MORE PICTURES:
Ask if you'd like to see more pictures. I can email them or you may be directed to my .com site. Generally a nice set. I ADVISE ASKING FOR MORE PICTURES IF DRIVER CONDITION IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU.

RESTORATION:
These horns have been completely restored by me, Michael Christ. First they were sandblasted to remove peeling lead paint then, after some minor cosmetic bodywork, sprayed in Altec blue. The match to these particular Bronze throats is incredible - really nice. There are some tricks to painting these and I have done it before. As you can see there is no decal. They are in great shape with minor bumps and dings. Basically, I have taken all the big work out of piecing these horns together from scratch for you so, with minor assembly, they will be plug and play.

I got these systems from my uncle who is an audio mania for more than 30 years. I am not sure whether these speaker cabinets are from Altec or JBL. But I think they are from JBL since I can see a JBL mark on the back of one of the wooden horns, plus based on my experience and other audio mania's opinions. Any info for the cabinets is highly appreciated if you know of it. At this time, the system is driven by Altec 515B, Altec 288-16G, and JBL 075 bullet twiteer which is 3 way system. I really got carried away with these speakers, especially with its adaptability or versitility with others speakers and drivers. In persuit of my own taste of music, I have listened to them with JBL Hartsfield 150-4c, Altec 604, 605a and the others. I also tried with JBL 375 drivers and the others. The wooden horns can fit most of vintage drivers. I am sure you will be amazed at its efficiency. Like many other mania's, you don't have to follow their suit with these speakers, saving your time and money. I believe this is it for vintage goers. What is better, look at the round shape on front inside the cabinet. You can immagine what kind of sound they could reproduce. Compared to Tannoy Westminster, these have wider and deeper round area on front inside the cabinets (please see one of the pics). Tannoy Westminster has open sections for radiation from the drive units vertically on both sides of the speaker but these speakers have sectioned opening for the radiation from the driver units vertically on both sides and additional sectioned openings on on the bottom as shown in the picture. It is like human's lips. So you can immagine the sound from the speakers. It is unsurpassed. I never saw this kind of speakers before. You may never find this again on Ebay or other place. So don't miss out this amazing speakers. Dimensions for cabinets are 36" x 29 3/8" x 17 5/8". Dimensions for wooden horn are 26 3/8 (front opening) x 18 5/8 (center long) x 7 5/8 (h). Pictures are of actual items being auctioned.
