Default Hello from The Netherlands

Hello all.
I'm Nico from The Netherlands.
My Belgium friend pointed me here since we share the same love, and own Klipsch horn loudspeakers. I've already been reading here and found that there is a lot of knowlegde you guys share.
About 35 years ago I got my first soldering iron and my dad helped me to make my first loudspeaker system. Though the simple wooden boxes only contained some random speakers from old radio's and organs [no crossovers], they sounded like heaven to me back then....I still remember.
The need for better audio reproduction never left and took me on a journey past home- and caraudio gear [both self-made and bought] and it brought many friends along the way.
This site is another welcome step in my never ending pursuit to "audio nirvana" although I learned ofcourse the real purpose is the journey, not the end... Hope to make some friends here, learn some more and contribute a bit too.
Regards, Nico

Default a few pics

Some pics of the speakers; replacing the stock Klipsch K-400, made of aluminium, for the wooden "fastrack" made by Dave Harris. I added additional dampening after a few weeks listening and I never wanted back.

After owning these speakers for almost 20 years I started to read on the "Klipschforum" about the La Scala's and soon found that I was not the only one experiencing the shortcomings of the original design...
I replaced all except the K-55 drivers for the midrange.
The transformation was performed in steps during a two-year period and looking back I regret that I did not learn about these "upgrades" sooner.
I took pics of every change and have all original parts stored away, but I'm not going to use them for sure...
Nico
